Magazine Proposal


Name: Life Outside, the everyday guide for the outdoors 

Concept: Fitness magazine and guide for the everyday outdoorsy young adult on a budget. 


Readers: Both male and females ranging between 18-30 years old. No specific ethnicity, targeting lower income, middle class, busy health conscious individuals on the go while going to school full time or beginning their careers. 


Fellow Competitors: Trail Runner, Women's Adventure , and Runner's World magazines. Both Trail Runner and Runner's World focus on outdoor running but do not include an overall outlook on everything outdoors such as hiking. Also, Women's Adventure focuses solely on women and does not include men in their everyday adventure.  

Five Advertisers: REI, Nike RunningBike and Roll San FranciscoOld Navy Active Wear, and Local Harvest- Farmers Markets

Five Articles: 

  • Top Ten Hiking Essentials- Here we plan to give you an overall guide on what to wear, pack, eat, plan, see, photograph and more while preparing for a hike.
  • Favorite State Parks-  Must see State Parks within your area and in the United States in case you plan on traveling. 
  • Must Have Workout Clothes Under $50-  Look stylish in affordable workout gear that does not cost over $100 for a pair of workout pants. 
  • Feel The Burn: Local Trail Runs For Beginners & Pros- Local trails targeted for your specific training needs. From easy runs to extreme outdoor trail runs right outside your front door. 
  • Don't Have Time? Nutrition On The Go!- Quick healthy meals that can be cooked in 20 minutes or less and affordable finds on organic whole foods. Local farmers markets hours listed.

  1. Good idea, looks like it's Bay Area or Northern Califorina-specific, so I'm wondering if you should have something about that in the name of the magazine
